For students seeking a mentor

Is MedRise Mentors really free?
Yes, always. Presentations, 1:1 mentorship, and every guide in our resource library are free for every student, with no catch and no hidden fees.
Who can apply for a mentor?
Any student thinking about a path into medicine, from high school through undergrad — whether you're undecided, a gap-year applicant, or already deep into your application.
How am I matched with a mentor?
We pair you with a medical-student mentor based on your goals, background, and interests, so you're matched with someone whose path looks like the one you want to walk.
How long does mentorship last?
Mentorship is longitudinal, not a one-time chat. Mentors stay with you through coursework, the MCAT, applications, and interviews, for as long as it's useful to you.
How do I apply as a mentee?
Fill out our short mentee application form. It takes about five minutes, and we'll follow up with next steps on matching.

For mentors

Who can become a mentor?
Medical students and gap-year students who want to give back to the students coming up behind them.
How much time does mentoring take?
Just a few hours a month. It's a manageable commitment that can genuinely change a student's trajectory.
Do I need prior mentoring experience?
No. If you're a few steps ahead on the path into medicine and willing to share what you've learned, you're qualified.
How do I apply as a mentor?
Fill out our mentor application form and we'll be in touch about matching.

For schools & chapters

Can MedRise Mentors present at our school?
Yes. We give free presentations at high schools and universities on the premed path, personal statements, extracurriculars, and interviews. Email medrmentors@gmail.com to schedule one.
How do I start a chapter on my campus?
Email medrmentors@gmail.com. We'll walk you through what a chapter involves and help you get one running.
What is the RISE framework?
Every match runs on four commitments: Relationships, Insight, Support, and Empowerment — the difference between a name on a list and a mentor who shows up. See our framework for details.
